Sheep are shorn!

Posted by Susan Sydor on June 13, 2012 at 10:45 AM

The girls are shorn....don't they look lovely? I was surprised at the bellies on them, and incredibly pleased that they are as healthy as they seem. Even though there was a huge fuss during shearing, I think they're very happy now that all that wool is gone!

OPTION TO Typical Synthetic Supplements Is Needed, Say Experts
Whole dietary supplements is currently a subject of worldwide interest. A profusion of proof has recently emerged suggesting that regular synthetic multivitamin supplements may be hazardous to your health. Goran Bjelakovic, a reputed scientist from the College or university of Copenhagen, headed up an enormous meta-study that viewed the results of 67 placebo-controlled trials previously undertaken to determine the effects of vitamin and anti-oxidant supplements on longevity. In the end, the study combined observations of 232 000 test topics. By using such a huge population sample, a study can become a lot more powerful with regards to spotting large-scale tendencies and overcoming individual bias.
The results of the analysis, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, were nothing less than shocking. Taking a look at patients with diabetes, heart disease and lung cancers, as well as healthy, normal individuals, there is no apparent benefit to taking popular fractionated supplements like Vitamin A, Supplement E, Vitamin C, Selenium, or beta-Carotene. Actually, the results proceeded to go in the contrary direction - there was an increased chance of loss of life (16 percent) among Supplement A users, a 7 percent higher death count amongst beta-Carotene users, and a 4 percent mortality upsurge in Supplement E users. Beta-Carotene and Retinol, promoted as anti-carcinogenic agents, may promote lung tumor. That is right - pills promoted as assisting you towards a longer, healthier life are actually correlated with a speedier demise. This research used typical supplements on the market created from synthetic vitamins.
To add insult to injury, a recent study published in the Uk Journal of Diet under the unimaginative title of "Ascorbic Acid Supplementation Does Not Attenuate Post-Exercise Muscle Soreness Pursuing Muscle-Damaging Exercise But May Delay The Recovery Process" indicated that supplementation with anti-oxidants from synthetic sources may reverse lots of the beneficial effects of physical training.
Now, this is not to say that vitamins or anti-oxidants are harmful to you. Far from it - these supplements were created based on solid science. Anti-oxidants are still believed to protect cells from the ravages of free radicals. The nagging problem, rather, is the essential idea that you can get those advantages from synthetic isolated substances. Disease and the aging process are far more complicated than test-tube studies can take into account usually. Furthermore, the presssing issue of bioavailability is an ever-present concern. Many typical synthetic supplements include huge amounts of the publicized vitamin, but absence the additional substances needed to ensure that their key elements are actually ingested by the body. Passing straight through the digestive tract, these 'miracle health remedies' often wind up doing little beyond offering people expensive urine. To the rescue...Whole Food Supplements.
